This course is a plateau into the competitive shooting world, where participants will have the opportunity to participate in several skill building exercises designed to enhance the student’s fundamentals. Participants at all levels are welcomed to join this exciting class of skill, mixed with some fun.
All students MUST have a valid New York State Pistol Permit. No other permits are accepted.

Course format: Range participation

Who should attend: Students must be able to handle a firearm in a safe and controlled manor and have some skills shooting a handgun from a holster. Participants will be evaluated by a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association during participation. If a student has never shot from the holster, bring it to the attention of the instructor before the start of the session.

  • Efficient Shooting Stance
  • Presentation of a Firearm on Target from the Holster
  • Proper Manipulation of the Trigger
  • Transitioning Between Targets
  • Shooting While on the Move

 

Upon successful completion of the course, examination, and qualification, participants will receive
the following:

  • Certification of Completion from Artemis Shooting Sports and Training Academy

 

Provided by Artemis:

  • The use of Personal Protection Equipment (if requested)

 

Required by All Participants:

  • Personal Protection Equipment (Eye and ear protection suitable for indoor range use)
  • Semi-automatic Pistol
  • Four hundred (400) rounds of ammunition
  • Minimum of Three (3) Magazine for your Semi-automatic Pistol
  • Strong Side, Outside the Waistband (OWB) Holster or Inside the Waistband (IWB) Holster attached to a STURDY belt, where the trigger is covered when the firearm is locked inside the holster. No “Serpa” types of holsters are permitted, where the trigger finger is used to release the firearm
  • Minimum of Two (2) Magazine Pouches on the outside of the belt
  • Students must wear proper clothing for a live fire exercise, which includes shirt with sleeves, pants or
    shorts that can have a belt attached, sturdy belt, flat shoes, boots, or sneakers that totally enclose the
    foot. Optional items: Jacket or baseball cap. Attire that is not allowed: sleeveless or low neck cut shirts
    that expose the chest or shoulder areas (no sleeveless), shirts that expose the central torso area
    (stomach), open toe: shoes, sneakers, or sandals/flip flops.
