This course is a blend of classroom instruction and actual range participation on the use of a handgun. The course, designed for beginners, allows the student to become familiar with their handgun and how to use it properly. This course also satisfies the state of Connecticut’s Concealed Carry Pistol Permit requirements.

Course Format:
This course is part classroom lecture and range qualifications.

Key Topics Covered:
• Basic firearms safety
• Safe firearms storage
• Semi-Automatic Pistol and Revolver parts and how each handgun work
• Ammunition fundamentals
• Fundamentals of pistol shooting
• Benchrest and standing positions while deploying a handgun
• Common pistol shooting errors and clearing stoppages
• Cleaning and maintaining your pistol

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course, examination, and qualification, participants will receive a Certificate of completion from the National Rifle Association.

Who Should Attend:
• This is an introduction course that is designed to give new and experienced shooters a great foundation on how to use a firearm

* Participant Age: 18-20 year olds with proper identification, no permit necessary / 21+ must have a valid NYS Pistol Permit

National Rifle Association targets, Level 1 (Level 2 or 3 upon request)

Use of a semi-automatic pistol and twenty (20) rounds of ammunition is available for the qualification, upon request

Eye and ear protection used during the course of fire

REQUIRED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS

Proper clothing for a live fire exercise, which includes shirt with sleeves, pants or shorts that can have a belt attached, sturdy belt, flat shoes, boots, or sneakers that totally enclose the foot. Optional items: Jacket or baseball cap. Attire that is not allowed: sleeveless or low neck cut shirts that expose the chest or shoulder areas (no sleeveless), shirts that expose the central torso area (stomach), open toe: shoes, sneakers, or sandals/flip flops.
