FUNDAMENTALS OF DEFENDING AGAINST AN ATTACK WITH A WEAPON SESSION
PARTICIPANT AGE: 18+*
|CLASS LEVEL: BEGINNER
This course is an excellent introduction to learn the fundamental principles of defending yourself against an attacker with a weapon. There is no live fire range training offered during this session.
Course Format:
Classroom lecture physical participation
Who Should Attend:
Students who are interested in learning how to defend themselves against difficult weapons during a surprise encounter. If flight is not an option, fighting for survival is your only path.
Key Topics Covered:
• Efficient ways to avoid or shutdown an attack
• Defend against a handheld attack from blunt weapons (baseball bat)
• Defend against a handheld attack from edge weapons (knife)
• Defend against a handheld attack from projectile weapons (handgun)
• Transitioning between hands on and using a weapon to defend
• Situational awareness
Upon successful completion of the course, examination, and qualification, participants will receive a Certification of Completion from Artemis Shooting Sports and Training Academy.

REQUIRED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS
NO LIVE FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM DURING THIS SESSION. FIREARMS ARE EITHER STORED INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE TO NEW YORK STATE STANDARDS OR AT HOME.
Comfortable clothing or workout clothes, shirt with sleeves (no sleeveless attire), sweatshirt, sweatpants, shorts (these must cover at least half of the thigh), sneakers or shoes worn with socks (no bare feet)
