This is an introductory course that is designed to give new and experienced shooters a great foundation for deploying a shotgun. Designed for beginners, the course allows the student to become familiar with their shotgun and how to use it for home defense. Each student is introduced to the knowledge and skill to safely load, unload, handle and fire a pump action or semi-automatic shotgun. Course exercises will help the participant develop efficiency through manipulation drills and range exercises. Students will manage the recoil of the shotgun to have fast follow-on shots.

Course Format:
This course is a blend of classroom instruction and actual range participation on the use of a shotgun.

• Safe shotgun handling
• Basic understanding of shotguns and how they work
• Knowing and utilizing the advantages of a shotgun in close quarters (home defense)
• Efficient manipulation of the shotgun
• Safe loading and unloading of a shotgun

Upon successful completion of the course, examination, and qualification, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from Artemis Arms LLC

Any student that fails to adhere to and maintain our safety requirements will be removed from the class.

 Targets

REQUIRED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS

Pump action or semi-automatic shotgun (Student must supply)

A minimum of fifty (50) rounds of Bird Shot, twenty (20) rounds of Buck Shot and twenty (20) rounds of Slugs are required. Ammunition will be inspected by the instructor prior to use. Ammunition is available for purchase at Artemis Arms LLC

Personal protection equipment (ear & eye protection, can be purchased the day of the class)

Students must wear proper clothing for a live fire exercise, which includes shirt with sleeves, pants or shorts that can have a belt attached, sturdy belt, flat shoes, boots, or sneakers that totally enclose the foot. Optional items: Jacket or baseball cap. Attire that is not allowed: sleeveless or low neck cut shirts that expose the chest or shoulder areas (no sleeveless), shirts that expose the central torso area (stomach), open toe: shoes, sneakers, or sandals/flip flops.
