The HR-218 Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) Certification Course (enacted on July 22, 2004, to extend active law enforcement officers and retired law enforcement officers the opportunity of carrying a concealed firearm in all fifty (50) States, the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories) is designed to provide qualified retired members of law enforcement with the knowledge and credentials necessary to carry concealed firearms nationwide under the provisions of HR-218. This course ensures that the participant meets the mandated training requirements for carrying concealed firearms in retirement and providing them with the ability to protect themselves and the community they served during their law enforcement career.

Course Format:
This course combines classroom instruction with live-fire range qualification exercises. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the HR-218 training requirements.

Who Should Attend:
QUALIFIED RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS seeking to carry concealed firearms under the HR-218 Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) provisions:
• The participant MUST produce a RETIRED Identification Card from their former agency, with the provision that they are authorized to carry a firearm
• A qualified law enforcement officer means:
     1. Is authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of,
         or the incarceration of any person for, any violation of law, and has statutory powers of arrest or
         apprehension under section 807(b) of title 10, United States Code (article 7(b) of the Uniform Code of
         Military Justice
     2. Is authorized by the agency to carry a firearm
     3. Is not the subject of any disciplinary action by the agency which could result in suspension or loss of     
         police powers
     4. Meets standards, if any, established by the agency which require the employee to regularly qualify in the
         use of a firearm
     5. Is not under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating or hallucinatory drug or substance
     6. Is not prohibited by Federal law from receiving a firearm
     7. The identification required by this subsection is the photographic identification issued by the
         governmental agency for which the individual is employed that identifies the employee as a police
         officer or law enforcement officer of the agency

This HR-218 LEOSA Certification Course empowers retired law enforcement officers with the training and credentials necessary to exercise their rights under federal law, ensuring they can continue to protect themselves and others while off duty, no matter where they are in the United States.

Upon successful completion of the course and qualification, participants will receive HR-218 LEOSA certification for ONE GUN TYPE, allowing them to legally carry concealed firearms in accordance with federal law.

ONE GUN TYPE = Either a Pistol OR a Revolver. It can be more than one pistol or revolver, but only one handgun type, not both.
